i'm pretty much a noob too but i am certain the other guys here would say that updating your bios to 1.0.13 wouldn't hurt. you can find that on the resource collective page. as a matter of fact most of best drivers are on that page. by best i mean most trustworthy. thats all i can help. (got an issue myself)

+1 on what motormaggot said.

The only other thing you'll need to look out for (unless you add some new hardware) is to download the latest 64-bit specific drivers for any peripherals you might have, such as a printer, scanner, web cam, etc. Most everything else will be taken care of by Windows 7. In fact, some older devices already have built-in driver support (i.e. Windows handles the driver install for you).

The one item you don't want Windows messing with drivers on is your graphics card. You'll want to get that 64-bit driver direct from Nvidia or AMD.

I keep running into to driver/display related issues running games (Boderlands 2, APB Reloaded, Skyrim) I get a Blue Screen that says my display driver has timedout. i have checked my dirvers and that are up to date. A friend of mine tells me that it could be my Graphic card because it is pretty old, i have a ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2. Any help?
