I am having difficulty with some of the lighting effect in FSX. What I am seeing is that the light effects, such as the landing lights on the runway at night, are not a gradual fade, but rather there are horizontal intensity bands. I will try to get an example screenshot up today. Best I can tell, I have 32 bit color enabled . . . done some searching, but have not found very many people with the issue - although there are some . . . but not any solutions.

What happens, is sitting on a runway at night, in say the default 747, if you remove the instrument panel, and turn on landing lights - the intensity of the landing lights on the ground decrease as you look out, but it does not do it gradually . . . there are horizontal bands of intensity.

Anyone seeing this as well? Anyone have suggestions on how to fix the problem?

David

I think I know what your talking about, if it is actually the same thing of course, I've noticed that I get banding in "Ground Scenery Shadows" where a building's shadow will start off black at the building and gradually decrease in colour to a very light grey but in distinct blocks. Not sure where the check box is (Scenery?) but turning it off solved it for me.

Out of curiosity, I loaded FSX with the D10 preview enabled - although I have the flashing texture issue (as always with the d10 preview), I don't think I have the light "banding" issue, and if I do, it is much improved.

What that means, I have no idea . . .

FSX running in "compatability mode" seeing as Vista only comes with DX10? Maybe??
