Last night I did a clean install of Windows 7.
Did some browsing online and seemed to be going well.

Today I was going to update the firmware and drivers: etc...
On power up I got the floppy disk fail (40) error and
CMOS checksum error...
I hit F2 to disable the floppy drive....
The computer froze in the Bios...

Thats it....nothing...unresponsive...

I had to force it down....now on power up I get the repeated one beep...on and on it goes.

Is there a chance that I can hook up an old floppy diskette drive (I have one)
and flash the Bios with that?

Or is she history?

Oh sorry...this is a stock XPS 630i motherboard.

I have been reading thread after thread and one strange thing
that I noticed was that there is no jumper on the CMOS pins.

That is wrong right? Shouldnt there be a blue jumper on the password pins
and then a white jumper on the CMOS pins?

I'm not sure about the CMOS and password pins (if you haven't changed them, they should be fine providing you bought your 630i directly from the factory?), but the following thread might provide some help regarding your floppy disk error problem:

Thanks Greg,
You are one of the few that seem to respond around here.
Maybe I am wording my posts wrong or something???

I got the jumper pin issue solved by placing the jumper on the correct pins
while the computer was ON.
CMOS errors are gone and setting are accurately being saved.

Now I have a new issue that I am going to post and I hope someone will be willing
to troubleshoot with me.

Thank you!
