Ok, so I finally had some time to run a couple preliminary benchmarks, just to see what the system was capable of, and to be honest, it is not as bad as I expected.

Now the system is OC'd stable to 3.60GHz, but only in turbo mode. I am still trying to get the hang of tuning the BIOS in this PC. The issue with that is that the CPU wont throttle up and stay at the speed. It keeps alternating around, so it is not completely accurate when running the GPU intense benchmarks. But the CPU tests, it was full speed all the way. Once I get the CPU OC'd using the BCLK, I will repost the 3DMark results to see the difference. And there is NO OC on the video cards. Memory is the stock Dell memory (samsung 7-7-7-20 @ 1333MHz). I will get the Dominator GT's in there once I figure out the highest stable RAM speed on this board.

I will be running more benchmarks, so if you have any request on certain games, etc, let me know.

LOL.

Yea I expected better, but I cant OC too well with this motherboard, and I cant control the CPU liquid cooling for OC'ing, so I am not going to push it any further. Down the road (a while from now), I will upgrade the motherboard to a newer board with one that has SATA III and USB 3.0, and then I can push it more. These stock motherboards dont like it when you OC using the BCLK (FSB for i7), and you actually get way better performance OC'ing with that vs. just the multiplier.

And these 5870's are actually getting a lot hotter now. They idle really low temps, around the mid 30C's, but when I tried playing Batman AA, Dragon Age, and Dirt 2 (DX 11), they got up as high as 88C! But apparently this is normal operating temperatures for the card. And they cool down super quick.

Run the Heaven benchmark in DX11-DX10-DX9 at 1920x1080 if you can.

Here you are buddy:

DX9 @ 1900x1080 Fullscreen w/Full AA and AF
Image

DX10 @ 1900x1080 Fullscreen w/Full AA and AF

DX11 @ 1900x1080 Fullscreen w/Full AA and AF

Here is one with DX11 @ 1900x1200 (native resolution on my monitor) w/Full AA and AF

As you can see, the Tessellation puts a lot more stress on the GPU's.

Here are some Tessellation Comparisons:

DX11 Wire Frame

As you can see from those, there are a LOT more triangles drawn to give more detail to the dragon and the rocky floor.

DX11 Wire Frame

See how you can actually see 2 intertwined ropes vs one single rope? And the tessellation of the ropes are amazing.

Yea it is definitely a lot more eye candy.

I would definitely recommend playing Dirt 2 and Alien vs Predator in DX11 with your HD 5850. You can see the differences going from DX9/DX10 to DX11. And dont use the Driver CD, get the latest drivers from the ATI/AMD website.

And Metro 2033 is coming out soon as well with DX11 support.

Hahaha. You sound like you are overly excited and ready. Not a bad thing though. LOL.

I did the same thing when I was waiting for my PC. I started downloading all the latest drivers and software from Dells website.

Sure thing buddy. I can get some up soon. The only thing is I just got rid of one of my HD 5870s, so the benchmark will be with just 1 HD 5870 instead of crossfire. My Alienware couldnt handle both cards with the stock Dell PSU, so I sold one of them. Plus I am looking at getting a GTX 480 soon. But I can play Dirt 2 MAXXED OUT all the way with 1920x1200 in DX11 without any issues.

Hey m3th0d1c4l, You can always overclock it. Hint Hint. So far the card is doing well. I haven't had allot of time to miss with it yet. I will be out of town this weekend so that time is gone. When I get back I will have bench marks up.

Thanks

no problem buddy, I actually just want screenshots to see how big of a difference the quality image is from dx 9 to dx 11. Might be jumping along on the dx 11 wagon too.

A couple of guys told me this demo is eye candy - which it is.

Not sure (or really care) what the score means (m3th0d1c4l ??) but is this only DX9?

Why is it games never look as good as these demos?

I have F1 2010. Don't buy it or wait for the patch. It's riddled with issues - corrupt saved games, etc. The patch will allow DX 11. I guess like Dirt 2 which I don't have. I'll wait and see what F1 2010 DX11 looks like but I have a feeling it won't look as good as this demo.
