Hi,
A friend has given me his Dell xps 630i and when I turn it on everything boots up but no picture come up what so ever. After asking a friend to look at it, it seems the motherboard is at fault. I would like it if you guys could advise me of what to do next please.
I don't know whether to do one of the following;
Buy a replacement motherboard (same one) and fit that,
Buy a new motherboard and use the original case,
Buy a new mother board and case (plus other things I might need) and make a new set up.

Please could you tell me the option you would choose and what you would get.
Much appreciated,
James

James

I had a similar decision to make a few weeks ago. I decided to replace the motherboard with a new one. It did work out a bit more expensive than I had hoped but it was well worth it. The problem with replacing the motherboard is that you will also have to replace the cpu & ram! If you read my signature you will see what my stock XPS 630i now consists of (pretty much a complete new system in the original case)! Also if you follow my posts (see chriskaz) you will see the process that I went through.

Hope this helps?
