Okay - somehow I have broken the copy functionality in windows 7 such that ctrl+c does not copy. All my other shortcuts work. Any suggestions on how to fix it. I have looked and searched to no avail . . .

Maybe you accidentally turned on sticky keys? Try pressing Shift 5 times repeatedly to bring up the sticky keys menu, and uncheck every option in there. See if that helps.

Is it only not working in a certain program/application, or just in general?

Not working in any application. Not the sticky keys. *sigh*

To be honest I have never heard of this happening.

I did a google search and surprisingly I saw a lot of results.

I don't really know what else it could be. I will try and figure it out though.

When did it start happening? What were you doing/running when you noticed it?

Started happening a week ago.

I found many search results too, but no answers.

Maybe its something with the keyboard? Try swapping your keyboard to a different USB port while in Windows? Also maybe try a different keyboard if available?

Is it with both Ctrl keys, or just the left/right one?

This is really a strange problem. You always stick me with the oddball ones Dave.

If you have another keyboard laying around, give it a try to rule out hardware failure. Also check to see if just the copy functionality is missing. Try running a program in the command line and press ctrl-c to try and close it. That might narrow it down a bit.

Different keyboard - same thing.

So I broke down and did a system restore back to a week ago. Working now.

Just need to make sure I don't f@#$#$ it up again.

I am just curious to what it was that caused it.

I am going to research this a bit for future reference. :D

No idea what caused it. And no idea how to fix it besides system restore.

I too am still looking for a fix.
