So I installed W7 last night, much faster than my Vista install!

I have a question about the system rating between Vista and W7.

In Vista Ultimate x64, my ratings were 5.8 for the processor and the rest at 5.9.

In W7 x64 my ratings have gone up drastically. Processor went from 5.8 to 6.9. Video cards from 5.9 to 7.0. The only one to stay the same is the HDD which I understand.

Did they just raise the # values in W7?

Thanks!

:D

In Vista the Windows Experience Index (WEI) topped out at 5.9. The ceiling in Win 7 was raised to 7.9 to account for higher performance in hardware designs. Since hardware improvements come pretty fast, you'll probably see many of the components getting to the max before long.

I've also read that the values shown in the Win 7's WEI have much more substance behind their calculation than in Vista. But I don't know the detail behind the numbers shown.

Just a reference point: when I installed an SSD, my hard drive index went from 5.9 (the max for any hard drive) to 7.5. Don't know if that's a good, bad, or average number for an SSD. :?:
