Hey everyone. This is about to drive me crazy. I just finished doing a clean install on it (630i) which was running win 7 64. ( switching everything over to my wife's name on it) reloaded everything bak up on it . everything running just as it should . Went to do all the updates on it but it would only keep checking for updates and never do anything.I have done trouble shooting, been all over the internet, down loaded fixers and every thing that i can find about this problem (which a lot of people have had). I have also clean installed win XP, Win 7 32 bit and win 7 64 bit several times all to no avail. Now i am looking for any help that i can find. Any ideals anyone?

Interesting! I have a friend who has this same problem (he's very frustrated with it), and he's also been unable to find a solution for it.

I've sent an e-mail to methodical about it--hopefully he knows what's going on and how to fix it?

Well today at 2:05 pm my computer started doing a update downloaded 118 items took about 3 hours. called for a reboot of computer which took a long time also. After it started up sometime later (slow again) It gives the message "Failure to configure window update reverting to change" It keep's trying to download and install but never gets there so I just turned update off.

Man, this is a tough one...basically same as my friend. Have you tried the (allegedly useful) Microsoft Update Troubleshooter page below?

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/gp/ ... sues/en-us

My friend feels that this issue has something to do with his hardware, since he tried another unused Windows 7 key, and had the same problem with the update process.

Also, have you ever used a dual-boot (Windows/Linux) system on that machine?

I was thinking about this a month or so ago... I think Microsoft needs to provide a way for us to get ALL the updates on Disk now that they are starting to stop supporting the older OSs.

I noticed that the Windows Updater will kill your system now that it can not connect to anything, Just go into Services and find the updater and set it to Manual Start, so it doesn't eat up CPU resources.

For the most part WIN7 is still OK but you have to have a high version of IE, if it is a lower version it doesn't want to reach anything.

Game On!
