Before I threw this out with the trash, I thought I would preserve it by scanning it. I've see a lot of questions about the supplementary power connectors for the GTX 200 series. Hopefully this will help with "a picture being worth a thousand words".

This is for the BFG line of GTX 200's, but I'm sure it's applicable to other brands as well.

Looks like the pictures for my GTX 470 also. It actually looks like the supplementary power connections for just about any gpu that requires it, just like you said...:)
