lookin to gut this thing out and start fresh. the wife doesnt like my idea to much tho. ($) im runnin MW3 and Skyrim on medium med/high. fps isnt the best, but i make do. ive seen lots of builds and up grades, but im worried i waited to long to keep up with newer games. the way i look at it is if i keep this mobo ill have to: get 2 GPUs (x8 x8 x4 on this board right? no x16 due to Dells mods?), 64 bit OS to be able to use more than 4gigs RAM, and up grade RAM, just to be bottle necked at my cpu and mobo limits. can anyone correct me if im wrong? just lookin for a bit of info b4 i go ahead and piss off the ol lady. if i do gut it out and start over heres what i was gonna get:

Since you're not into OC'ing, save $20 and buy the i5 2400 for $189.99 ;) That cpu is very suitable for gaming and can be OC'ed roughly 10 to 12% faster with ease (just ask us & we'll show ya  )

You can save yourself $45 and buy this... GSkill Ripjaws X 1600MHz  Having 2133MHz ram is only good for serious multi-tasking or if you are using programs that will utilize that speed. That speed does nothing for gaming :(

Now if you do the above, take that $65 + $10 more and add that to the $169.99 that you are considering to spend for a GTX 550-TI and buy something like this... EVGA GTX 560 Ti

GG. Go with drBlahman's advice and you will be a VERY happy gamer on MW3 and Skyrim.

Sorta sucks you have to buy a hard drive now. Any way you can avoid that? It's a big percentage of that budget and this is the worst time ever to need an HD. If you can add the money from the HD into the rest of the build things can look very very very nice.

hey thx for the help guys. ill use my old HDD for now yea. get another and a ssd when i can. great info on the RAM too thx.

so do i got my facts straight on tryin to upgrade my current rig? putting a single gpu in this board would not be a good idea right? 32bit OS= only 4gigs RAM. no current CPU will fit this socket. ect. ect.

how important is it to match up a cpu with a chipset? like what is said in neweggs info: "And when combined with Intel H67 Express chipset, Intel Core i5-2400 processor delivers visibly smart performance at its best for the desktop with its highest performance built-in graphics and media features." the mobo i have picked out has a P67 North Bridge. is this a big deal? i know it says built-in gfx, but is there any other reasons plus or minus to match em. or is it just for mobos with onboard gfx?

thx again :?

There is no "match."

The only thing you have to look for is the socket and CPU support. The chipset is based on your choice of features you want in a motherboard.

The stock 630i case and HDD fans will draw too much power from your motherboard unless you plan on using your Master I/O board with your build. That much I remember from methodical and drBlahman's excellent advice. :)

It will; the only caveat of swapping it out later is having to remove your mobo again to put it in.

Well, the way I look at it, like a car, it may be more up front than a cheaper PC, but you're getting better quality for your long-term investment. And instead of just providing transport, it's not only a source of entertainment, but handling finances/taxes/banking, web/e-mail, family photos, etc.
