It's been a while since I've done anything to my rig, and been waiting patiently on the advent of all the new technology on the horizon in order to take full advantage of it.

Those I have been specifically waiting on: DirectX12, DDR4, USB 3.1, 3.1 type C, new Intel architecture (Processors) along with the mobo manufacturers incorporating it. I was really anticipating the Broadwell release....that was until Skylake popped up on the radar. Still a toss up and remains to be seen if Intel launches both together or separate. If that's the case, it maybe 2016 before the Skylake chip appears on the market.

As for DirectX12, once again, MS is going to force our hand to Windows 10 in order to get it, and if it still plans on ending support for Windows 7 this month. I don't get it. Windows Vista was a dud, 8 was a flash in the pan and poorly conceived and received and then, there was 9....or was there???? Ridiculous. Windows 10 still hasn't proven itself to the masses, and yet, the one successful OS in the last few years is going to get the deep 6 before it does? Who are the brainiacs running things at MS nowadays? Geez.....

My plan is to retrofit all my internals and upgrade to the new stuff and keep the old case. No Fractal Designs, Lian Li, NZXT or any of the others. The 630 just to see if it can be done.

My biggest disappointment since CES is still not seeing anything USB 3.1 backwards compatible in the way of peripheral connectors, meaning everything from the keyboard (I plan on switching back to a wired one) mouse, printer etc will all have to be new and compatible. I'm sure the new mobos will still have USB 3 ports, in addition to the 3.1, but still....

My other disappointment is having to dig for PC related Desktop items, as almost every other news release is laptop, tablet or phone related.

My 2 picks so far from this years show would be Digital Storm's Aventum 3. The entire PC from top to bottom is a work of art. The other is MSI and their Z99 mobo. Seems Asus and the others are behind the power curve, which i find unusual.

Just some thoughts.

My sentiments exactly; and unless M$ restores the choice of which GUI to use in Windows 10 (ala Windows 7 style options), I'll dish out the same "ask me if I care" attitude toward them that they're shoving down my throat.
