Testin' out a new rig in honor of my mom!
She's got Alzheimer's and Dementia, that's the main reason i fold.
Before i put the rig into commission in The_Garbage_Can_Club, i needed to run it solo to gage the ppd. Didn't me to nab that #1 24hr avg ppd from ya there HZF!!!
You'll have it back in a couple days:)!!!

Anyway, if anyone's interested in the build thread and thanks are here: http://forums.rampantspeculation.com/sh ... php?t=5623

Here's a teaser of it! Thoughts? Comments? Criticisms? LOL!?!?!!!

Distributed computing protien folding.

Basicaly we load up programes that make use of our CPU/GPU to help the researchers at Stanford school of medicine better understand the causes of diseases.

Here's a link to thier website.

M$,

Just had a re-look at your post, am I reading it right?

Four 9800 GX2's and an SMP?

That's amazing!!

With all the heat those bad boys are kicking out you could put a metal plate over the top and have your very own personal BBQ! lol

Naa, I think that is just 2 9800GX2's. Each card is a Dual GPU card, so it will show up as 4 cards because of the 4 GPU cores.

And yea those cards are very hot. I had one, and I always had to keep the fan up around 60-80% because it would start skipping frames and lagging from the heat.

They are great folding cards.

I stopped folding because I was tired of the errors and wasted time.

I agree it is a very frustrating thing. I still try to fold when I can - but I don't understand why they can't get a stable, reliable GPU client . . .

Frustrating, yes. What I have found though is that after a clean install of the OS the clients seem to run a fair bit better. I still get CPU/GPU clients waiting to download new clients, but I think that's more down to server issues than anything else though.

The thing is, folding for Team My630i.com isn't a "must do", if you can, then please do. Any donation to science/the team is more than welcome.
