Hi, i'm recently got a Dell XPS 630 from my uncle and was reading about changing the L.E.D Lights. I read that you can change them through Nvidia Performance Tab, but then i heart about Fan Issues or something. Is it safe to change my L.E.D Lights? Do i need to update my BIOS or something? (I think mines on 1.0.4)

You can get the latest bios and MIO firmware updates here resources/driversandfirmware.html

You can change the lights if you want. I actually turned mine off.

There is always a risk when flashing the BIOS or MIO Firmware, and that goes for any system.

It may go perfectly fine without an issue, or it will brick your system. Nothing is guaranteed.

So this is a good time to mention, do so at your own risk. :D

So if the fans go 100%, will there be no way to fix it?

You can always fix it, but that may require you to replace the broken hardware, if either fails in the process of updating the BIOS/Firmware. And a motherboard or MIO board for a 630i can only be purchased used/refurbished as they are not sold new anymore.

If the 630i is your only working computer, I would advise not to update anything.

As they say, "If its not broken, don't fix it." :D

I"ve already updated my BIOS to the latest one, is changing the colour of the led lights a bad idea?

Changing the color won't harm anything. At least it shouldn't.

But as mentioned, if you have to end up flashing the firmware for the mio board, that can cause the problem. Sometimes the colors won't change if the firmware is not up to date. The Nvidia performance application is buggy.

There was another application called AlienFx for the xps series. If you can use that instead you are less likely to have a problem.
