Well I seem to be in an odd position here, but I have, in the past, replaced my stock motherboard with a Gigabyte model. Before this, I had swapped out my stock video cards for an ATI one. However, I was able to use the light controls included in the Nvidia control panel up until I was forced to do a fresh install of Windows.

Knowing I am unable to install the software with an ATI card, I have borrowed and installed EVGA e-Geforce 8800 GTS. But when I went to install the software, the options to change these settings have disappeared. Does anyone have any ideas/tips?

Here is a screenshot of the program in its current state:

That is an odd one. Usually it just pops up under the chassis tab as long as you have some kind of Nvidia hardware installed.

Have you tried installing a different version, or reinstalling the software? Make sure you choose to delete all saved profiles when you uninstall the ESA software.

Well, I had already tried reinstalling it to no avail and, I just tried running 6.02 (rather than 6.03) with no difference in outcome.

Though alternatively, I am able to maintain my current color (blue) by backing up the firmware and can reload that color if I load the firmware back on. If this issue is not resolved, it would be great if someone can upload their own firmware backup with all the led's set at red or green. It's certainly a tolerable alternative.

Did you ever update your Master I/O board firmware to the latest version? You can find it in our resource collective and give that a shot.

I remember seeing that error once before, and someone here had a fix for that. But I am not sure what it was. You might be able to dig it up in one of the ESA threads if you can find it.

Hopefully one of the other guys that messed around with ESA more can help out. I never used nor liked that ESA software because it was nothing but a pain.

Well, here's the rundown:

I managed to get it to work by installing an older version of the display driver and then installing the tools.

However, there's one catch; once i take the borrowed Nvidia card out of the system and swap back in my ATI card, the category disappears from the performance tab. So given these circumstances, I don't think it would be viable to change the color without the nvidia card installed. My hypothesis is that whenever I had the stock MB in it, that may have taken care of this feature since it is covered in the performance tab. (Just a guess)

So given these circumstances, I think I'll just back up the firmware of my favorite color settings onto my PC and swap them in and out whenever I want to change it. This way, I won't have to pop an nvidia card into my machine every time I want to change the color.

Ahh I did not know you removed the video card.

Yes you have to keep the card installed to keep it working. The reason it worked with the stock motherboard is because it has an Nvidia 650i SLI chipset. Since it still has Nvidia in the system, it will allow you to control it still with an ATI card.

Now, since you have an Intel chipset and an ATI card, there is no way to change your lights, besides the method you specified with reloading different firmware profiles.

Back when I had my 630i, I just kept my lights set to red and never bothered with ESA ever again.

And with this being said, I am, sadly, encountering a previous issue. Whenever I try and run the system update, I get this error:

You need to do a clean GPU driver repair or install.

Or just uninstall the system update portion, you don't need it.
