I am returning my computer. It is not that I think it is a bad machine, although I would like the missing features, it is just that I can not trust this company any time in the future. The false advertising is one thing, but when I complain to the Pennsylvania Attorney General, I expect the company I have a complaint about will not put words in mouth. Dell had the nerve to actually communicate with the Attorney General's office and state, that after a conversation they had with me, they UNDERSTOOD my issues had been resolved. I never said anything near this, in fact I said the complete opposite! They did this just to get me off their back. I am just going to return my computer and get one from some reputable company.

I certainly do not blame you; the response from Dell via the Indiana Attorney General's office that I received was anything but honestly seeking to address issues and help a customer.

I don't know if anyone knows this yet, but, at the moment, you can not return your 630i because Irene, the person who handles the returns, is on vacation and won't be able to process returns until the twentieth. I find this odd considering the cut off date is the fifteenth, isn't it?

That's correct (see attached screen shot).

It sounds almost crass, but the sad truth is that (for Dell) "what is else is new?" is the only thing I can say. :(

okay just to inform you guys that if you submit your request to chris_m on or before the 15 im sure it will be processed as i submitted mine 10/14 and have a cope of it on my outbox and chris replied he said that he has submitted the request for a full refund and irene will get it on the 20 when shes back from somewhere to call me about the details of the refund. im expecting to be refunded of the whole money i paid for, just an added note i think some angel where looking out for me because on oct 12 my 630i just died so went and called tech and after 3 hours of blah... blah... a tech will come and replace mobo, gpu and rams durring this time i was not aware that the deadline was on the oct 15 but i knew about the program to return it. so after my 630i died i started looking around and found this out if my system didnt die i would have missed the window to return it which in fact i was really gonna return it but not on or before oct 15. so now with enough cash i think im going with the 730 h2c now ive seen very few 730 h2c bugs and failures so i hope that will prove that the machine is better than 630i. to anyone dont want to get frustrated with their 630i just return it. i dont know if they will ever get the issues resolve with the 630i.

Don't you think the return offer should have been more publicized by Dell? Anyone who has had issues with this computer and has not come across the extended return policy should complain to Dell (or the authorities). I understand Dell doesn't want a mass number of people to return their computer, but if you do offer an extended return policy, you still have a responsibility to make your customers aware of the offer.

Yes, they should--but it will take a concerted effort by one or more people within Dell to change the attitudes and correct the problems that are apparent in the 630i (including restoring the refund). There were a lot of very poor decisions that were made that resulted in the headaches and issues that the 630i brought to light both for Dell, and us as their customers. My guess is that both engineering and marketing are eager to see the 630i disappear, as it's been a pretty big embarrassment to them.

With lots of competition, and the speed of new technology coming out, it is in Dell's best interests to provide their customers with hardware that:

1) Comes with everything that was advertised, without 'gotchas' or deceitful specs
2) Returns as solid a technical value for as long as possible in terms of performance and reliability
3) Works 100% out of the box without needing to fix numerous problems
