Re: Dear Chris

Heh no. Im wanting the motherboard upgraded to one that actually works like the advertisement said it would -

IE 16x PCI. not 8 lanes. And I don't care if cards don't use it yet, its the future upgradeablility. The motherboard was Dell'd and hardwired to 8x. other 650 boards have switch.
* Nope. There will not be a motherboard upgrade program for the XPS 630.

ESA Compatible, which Dell obviously tried to circumvent via the MIO.
* As I already reported, we have several updates coming which fix the Dell ESA issues.

And LightFX 2.0, which any other board besides the 650 will support.
* The dancing colored LightFX will never happen on the XPS 630/XPS 730.

* Knowing all of this, we are offering you the option of a refund of the XPS 630.

And what about compensation for all the BS they've put you(us) through and for the false advertising? I'd also want compensation for the time I'd have to spend reinstalling all my software and tweaking a new system. Whatever happened to their tried and true 21 day return policy? Why is it they are suddenly allowing someone way beyond the 21 days to return it? Could it be because they know they are in the wrong? Guess Dell wants a no harm no foul out of you.

Dell's attitude in all this has been nothing less than "screw you."

I encourage everyone who is not happy with that to file a claim with the Better Business Bureau. They use a step-by-step process (much like a software "Wizard" would). Just jot down your order number, customer number, etc. from your original sales receipt before starting, as they do ask for it.

I'm still waiting until Thursday this week to get a reply to my last contact with someone at Dell. I've been told they are "looking into my concerns" so I will give them one last chance. Who knows, maybe Dell will do the right thing? Thank god I typed that cuz I couldn't have kept a straight face any other way.

Is optimism a sign of faith in one's fellow human beings or a stupid person?

"Looking into my concerns" means they're out playing a round of golf while they dream up another batch of ways to lie to their customers. I doubt this is very far from the truth.

They just offered me (via a phone call this evening) $200 or a complete refund, but I didn't accept either. Am I crazy? I don't consider anything other than Dell making full amends without excuses for their false advertising and lies to be acceptable.

At this point I wouldn't accept a refund either and the $200 credit? WTF is that about? Unless Dell is willing to compensate me for ALL my time spent debunking all their BS and recompense for the false advertising that drew me in in the first place in addition to a full refund then it's a no go for me as well. I don't think Dell realizes that as a collective we've invested way to much time now and that they should have done something about this crap a long, long time ago.

This is what I was told by Chris

Based on your history with the 630s, maybe go with the XPS Studio 435T!

I have known Chris Mixon since '04.
He was the mod on the Malware Removal board when I worked.

He is a well respected member of Dell, I was invited by Dell to come to Round Rock in Oct. for a 2 day conference, but I couldn't fit it into my schedule.

This 630i that I got a couple months ago was a free upgrade from my noisy XPS600 I had.

I remember when the XPS 700 came out and people go real pissed over the motherboard and in fact, Dell finally sent out new mobos to all the users.
