I am in the process of trying to collect documents showing the descrepancies between what Dell advertised and what Dell delivered with the Dell XPS 630i / Dell XPS 630.

If you have copies/downloads/screenshots/etc. of advertising or specifications that show features or specifications that have not been delivered, could you please forward them to me at webmaster at my630i dot com.

My goal is to complie them and make them available to assist with complaints that consumers are making to the appropriate agencies. The more documentation, the more credibility our complaints will have.

I know that some of the advertising has been changed, so I am especially interested if anyone has pre-change versions of that information.

David

Thanks for all the hard work here at MY630i.com guys. Do you want any of the pictures I have been using over at DCF Davbow? Unfortunately I just started taking snaps of their pages so I don't have anything pre-altered.

Yes - I will take everything and everything and try to make sense of it - if you want to put it in a Word document, with annotations, that works too ;-)

Drange, could we get your help with looking over the technical aspects of the talking points? (Also billybigfoot, and anyone else who knows more than I do on all this)...it would be very much appreciated.

My goal is to keep the collective in sync with what you see here on the forums, so that there's a little footwork as possible that has to be done.

Does anyone know the answers to the following questions (building the documentation):

* Chris_M's full last name?

* Who the third-party is that supposedly certified the 630i as ESA compatible? (we do know it's not nVidia who was responsible for that).

And when I requested more information on ESA certification for the 630 and other products, this was the reply I received on May 8, 2008:

"If you are talking about reports on the testing that NVidia paid for with Allion Test Labs, Inc., the reports are only available to authorized NVidia staff. All work done for NVidia is done under confidentiality/NDA agreements. If you have such continued interest you should contact NVidia directly and discuss your request with them."

Seems silly that certificates regarding a feature as to a standard are confidential . . . oh well . . .

I apologize if this is old news, but this should be added to the data being accumulated.

Look here under the basic description of the XPS 630. "Create your own light show with LightFX 2.0"

Yup--same here. More fodder for the AG.

BTW, djcypher--I added the link to Dell's attempt to explain LFX2. Their lie starts right here: "As a result, this functionality was moved to NVidia Control Panel, under the Chassis section of the Performance tab." The only functionality they 'moved' was adjusting LED colors--not the plugins. Yet they still chose to heavily advertise the functionality while intentionally knowing it was no longer included, nor possible on the 630i.

Sorry for the rant, but I'll be adding this to the list.

billy and dave, thanks for the updates--there's no lack of material; even Dell Europe is still happily advertising LightFX 2.0.

I for one would be okay with receiving info by private e-mail to avoid the lookeyloos from getting it and removing it.

As far as I am concerned, any information posted here is not going to be removed without a court order or without me personally approving it being removed.

This site is not run by Dell.

I know this is an extra step, but if you find a webpage that has important information, could you please save it using your browser and/or print it to a PDF using a utility like Cute PDF ( http://www.cutepdf.com/Products/CutePDF/writer.asp - I LOVE this program and use it at least once a day ). If possible, then send me the saved complete html file or PDF file.

I am worried that once they are posted here, they will be removed before I can capture them. The key here is to preserve the information.

Thank you to all for your help!

Sorry Davebow...I should have said to keep them from removing any site links we find in the outside world. I consider this our safe haven. :)

Just e-mailed a cutePDF of the crave-cnet-dell response, let me know if I've knackered it up and I'll try again. Man that thing was buried deep!

BBF -

Worked like a champ! Just what I was looking for.

My idea is to have "hard" copies of these pages in case they magically disappear!

For all to review - here is an example of a webpage PDF created with CutePDF by BBF - and hopefully after viewing it you will see why I would like to have the webpages archived in PDF format.
