Hello everyone! I stumbled upon this board while searching for the reason why I couldn't crossfire my 5770's on the stock mobo! I know now! :D

Since then I've replaced the stock board with an MSI P45 platinum, and I've been happy ever since!

It's much cleaner in there now, so I'll have to take an updated picture at some point. Everything on the case works minus the powerbutton! But that isn't a big deal since there's one on the board!

Welcome.

Looks very nice. If you want to make it a bit more neater, you can take out one of the HDD drive bays if you are not using it. Gives you a bit more room.

I didn't realize those are removable--couldn't find anything in the service manual about it? Can the top and bottom sections be removed independently of each other?

Yes they both can be removed. If you look all the way in the back of each bay, you will see screws holding the bays in. Just remove them and they slide out, very easy to do. The top bay has to come off first though if I remember correctly.

I found a pic of my old 630i when I made the thread on removing the left door. You can see I only had the bottom bay installed:

Its not in the service manual as they are not technically a removable part by Dell standards, and considered part of the chassis. They can also be removed on Alienware Aurora R1-R4 and XPS 730/730x's, however it is pointless since they don't really get in the way as they do in the 630i.

Thanks! Have added this to my "will do" list when I buy an SSD drive next month (starting to drool over that one). Having one bay should improve air flow a little; always a nice plus!

Oh yes, removing one of the trays was a very good idea. Also cleaned up some of the cable routing.
