Well... don't you think Dell should be the one telling me what should happen or what is expected to happen, not the other way around? They're the one who got the engineers, the technicians, all the experts needed to solve any problems related to the products they're selling; and I'm just a lone customer. I already explained to you my issue and I just need a solution from Dell, not me.
I can certainly understand your reasoning here, but there's no "solution" for the problem you've described.

The Dell version of the 650i motherboard simply does not support PCIe 16x, and there isn't a practical way around it without replacing your motherboard.

Cherub_GENESIS, All,

On my weekly XPS con call, I relayed what was said to you by the technician. I reiterated that this was incorrect information. I then went on to discuss how the PCIe x16 slots only have 8 PCIe electrical lanes per slot. That information was then sent out to all technicians via the weekly email.

Before Everyone Doggs on this MOBO Check this Post

The Difference is Very Small When it comes to 8x vs 16x read and just enjoy your 650i mobo
The Only time the 8x vs 16x matters is if you have the best ATI GPUS (ATI 4870 X2) cause no developers are taking advantage of 16x...... So Like I Said Just Enjoy Your 8x 650i Mobo or Dont take the cheeper root and buy the 630i buy the bigger brother ...

Thank you for posting that link, Bimochi.

8x vs. 16x means nothing unless you have an ATI 4870 x2.

I agree with JDookie. 8x vs 16x doesnt make a difference.

But it does make a bit of a difference when you are comparing the 8x 1.0 to the 8x and 16x 2.0 slots.

But unless you have a super video card, such as a GTX 295 or 4870 X2, you shouldnt notice a difference.

And even then, the difference isn't noticeable. I gained only 200 points out of 40,000+ with 16x lanes vs. 8x.

I think you will run into a cpu bottleneck before you run into a PCIe lane bottleneck.

Here's an article on PCIeX scaling http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/AMD/ ... ing/1.html I don't think your losing much if anything.
