Hello everyone i have a dell xps 630i it turns on and off and it will do that as long as there is power to it. sometimes it will stay on for 3 mins to 10mins

i changed the power supply with a brand new 1000 watt Zalman
still did it turns on then off

i put a new power supply again a corsair 850watt still same thing now its really bugging me.

so i took everything out of the computer install everything back in it still did it turn on then shuts off

so then i took everything back out installed new motherboard new cpu new wires SATA Cables new SSD Drive ETC.... still will shut off and on

my friend told me to fix it for him its giving a headache.

so the only thing left in the xps 630i is the power button will this make it turn on then off? i have never had this happened to me before most of the time the power button will not work in this case it still works i am still able to turn it on but then shuts off even with everything brand new except the power button  please any ideas ? would be great!

thank you for your time.

To rule out a power button, I believe you can disconnect it from the mobo, then use something like a screwdriver or pair of pliers to short the pins together to turn it on. You should only have to touch the pins, don't leave the tool applied. See if it turns off by itself after you do this. Is it the same video card every time, it's possible that this may be the problem if it is.

Sounds to me like it certainly could be the power button or even a short in the wires to the front panel. Look for broken insulation on any of the wires, and do check out the button itself as KenvinK37 described above. It really sounds like an electrical short somewhere.

P.S. I did have the same issue with a new build, and it was the power supply. But you've pretty well ruled that out!
