I am stumped by this one and I can't figure it out. I have a system with Windows XP and SATA drive as the primary, I got a second drive that was on sale that is a ATA. The system sees the drive, I can start it in Disk Management, but I can not format it. Has anyone ran into this problem?

Does disk manager give you any other information? You say you can't format it, is the option just greyed out? Does it say the disk already has some strange format on it? It may just need a low level format.

I've used this one before;

Just make sure you set the master/slave jumper on the ata disk, corresponding with the location on the ide cable (end=master, middle-slave). The 630i needs that jumper setting, it doe not like the Cable Select jumper setting.
(depending on your videocard, the location of the ide ata connector on the mobo is "unfortunate")
