Since I upgraded to Vista 64 (from XP Pro), it seems like some programs (not all, though) aren't added to the Start Menu. For instance, I've installed three games that didn't get added, and two that did.

I'm sure if I Googled it, I'd have an answer within moments, but I figure I'll toss this out here and see if anybody here has any information.

I've noticed the same thing. My guess is that the games that were released pre-Vista install into the Start Menu and those released after get the icon placed into the Games section/group.

eg.
Doom 3 - start menu, icon only appeared in games group after running it.
Crysis Wars - no start menu, icon was placed in games group at install.

I could be wrong and there could just as easily be another reason, just my guess.

Well, I guess that solves THAT problem. They changed the way it works in a way that irritates me.

The Games section of the Start Menu has always been populated with fluff like Majong, Minesweeper, and Solitare, so I tend to ignore it. Even now, if I click Start -> All Programs -> Games, it's all those little preinstalled games.

But then there's the Games submenu item which I had turned off because I don't like useless clutter...and that's where the links for Fallout 3, Stranglehold, and Tomb Raider: Underworld went, instead of into the Start Menu proper like Call of Duty 4.

I dislike this functionality.

True, it's not to everyone's taste and does take a bit of getting used too, progress I suppose.
