Hi guys, I am just letting you know that my new mobo arrived today (Amazon have a brilliant returns policy)! I am going to strip down my 630i once again and try, once again, installing my new mobo along with the new cpu, psu, heat sink etc. (see my signature for what my rig is running on). I have to say that it has been a really steep learning curve since I first became a member of this forum (see my $500 thread). I couldn't have done any of this with help from gdonner (he really is a diamond geezer)! Wish me luck?

I trust the mobo will be solid this time (it should be!) We'll be following how things go--keeping the fingers crossed for it!

BTW, I appreciate the sentiment, but credit where credit is due: I just 'parroted' everything I learned from a ton of people here--especially our gurus (methodical, dr Blahman, jdookie and many others) and special kudos to user Stevenlgts who did the Extreme4 upgrade even before I finished my "how-to" docs--he spurred me on to actually do it. :)

My new mobo is in and working fine, at the moment. However, I have now discovered my GTX 460 graphics card has died!!!!!!! Any ideas on which graphics card would suit my new system?

I have to say that if you hadn't taken the time & trouble to give me the information you have I probably would have ended up buying a new computer and thus spending mega bucks! Thanks again buddy.

Argh! :( Sorry it's now your graphics card that's bitten the dust; but glad your mobo seems to be working ok!

Depends on how much you want to spend for a new graphics card, but any of the EVGA GTX 660 line should work well--the user reviews should give you an idea of what's best rated:

I have just placed an order for a brand new EVGA GeForce GTX 660 SC 2GB GDDR5 graphics card. This item was on special offer at Amazon.co.uk (£178). I am not sure if this is going to be ok with my new build, but here's hoping! I am getting a bit nervous about how much money I have spent recently  It is a lot more than the $500 that I orginoanlly intended  Still, my computer should (hopefully) be good for a few more years! I have had to put one of the old stock graphics cards back in my machine just to get it up and running (luckily I didn't throw it away) :) I will, of course let you know how things are once my new gpu is installed.

Hmm, almost makes be wonder if your last mobo wasn't the issue but the gpu? Was your 460 under warranty yet? That 660 will be a nice upgrade to say the least:

You will find the gtx 460 way down the list ;)

I also wondered if my gpu was the reason for my rig not working. However, I installed an old GeForce 9800 GT card on my mobo & it still didn't work. When I tried the GeForce 9800 GT card on my old mobo it worked fine, and it is now working fine on my replacement mobo! The 460 doesn't work on any of the 2 mobo's I have tried it on. Unfortunately, it is not under warranty as I purchased it (I think) about 2 years ago. I am very pleased with the reviews I have read about the new gpu I have ordered. I just hope it works of with the rest of my hardware?

My new graphics card arrived today and is working like a dream  I have only just installed it and have cranked Assassin's Creed 3 up to maximum. It looks superb  It certainly has made a big difference to the look and feel of this particular game. I would suggest that anyone looking for a new gpu to look no further than the EVGA GeForce GTX 660 SC 2GB GDDR5 (great value for your money at Amazon.co.uk). :D
