Hello there,
Long time reader, first time poster.

I was running my XPS on winXP (32bit) for a few months.
Last week, I "upgraded" to Vista (64bit), almost everything is going fine ... but the X-Fi drivers (or Console launcher) don't show me the "Boost microphone +20db" anymore (was working great on XP).

Since then, i'm searching on web anykind of solutions, but I got unlucky.

I'm out of idea to know how I can solve this issue. and I wonder if you had the same issue, and if you were able to fix it, and for sure "How?!" :)

Thanks for helping me ;)

Hey Hebus,

I believe i may have a slightly similar issue in that ever since i upgraded to Vista 64-bit, I haven't been able to to produce the same amount of volume as i used to when i was in 32-bit Vista.

Check this thread out, some users have proposed a few queries although i haven't had the chance to try them out yet.

Hopefully you find the solution.

I saw your post earlier in the morning ^^

What I can tell, is that 64bit change its way to "deal with" sound. and if I understood well, there is no more EAX (or at least, not all the function you had on 32bit are used on 64bit).

Maybe you could check the PAX driver Pack : http://www.driverheaven.net/audio-gener ... ost1216283
From what they say, this modded driver improve greatly the "strengh" of your sound.

But nothing about Microphone boost >_<'

That's too bad.

I've been looking around myself and it seems Vista 64-bit has alot of compatibility issues with Creative and various sound issues and what not.

If i happen to cross something i'll post it on here

If I understand it correctly, I believe it may have to do with Vista's vastly different way of handling audio (basically a complete rewrite from XP). In other words, I doubt it's strictly a 32- vs. 64-bit issue.

well, I guess you're right. I wasn't really sure if it was 32bit vs 64bit or simple XP-Vista.

Anyway, what's sure, is that on WinXP pro SP2 the "+20db Boost" was there in the "console launcher" (Sound pannel of Creative). but this option isn't in the Vista version of the pannel (even if the interface look the same).

I guess i'm not the only user of XPS with X-Fi sound card and runing Vista (32 or 64 bit) so i'm sure someone else have this issue ;)

That's just really annoying .. because I do use my microphone a lot. and having to yell all evenings isn't gonna make my neighbour being friendly for long ^^
