Spammers are using TinyURL to mask their spam websites. If any of our members use TinyURL, and I don't think any have so far other than "JessicaD", they will be warned for the first use, and banned on the second use, as is the case with member "JessicaD".

Do you have any suggestions for alternatives?

(I usually reduce my links with the [url=] tags anyway.)

No it had some "drive-by" code in it and then redirected to Microsoft's site. If anyone clicked on it with an unprotected browser or system, they may have been infected.

No need for an alternative, just post the link as-is or use the URL tags as you say, and then you can put your own words for the hyperlink, but when people hover over your words they'll see the original link.
