I am working on the next generation of my630i.com . . .

What I would like to know from members is this:

If new features and information is added to the site, what would you like to see added?

I am talking about non-forum related features . . .

Anyone have ideas . . . now is the time to let me know!

As always, thanks!

David

Hmm; I can't think of anything off-hand--most everything needed already seems to be here. What kinds of additional features are possible?

Good question Greg - how about:

File Library
News aggregation
Hardware/software reviews
Opinion articles
General news updates

Like any suggestions - even if they are not possible, there might be something that comes from the suggestion . . . so don't hesitate to mention something . . . brainstorm . . . lol

David,

In my humble opinion, what makes this site more unique is the fact that it does not have these features (it you will) that most other sites have. At some point they become very cluttered with junk. Take a look @ overclockers.net it has a lot of stuff, but truthfully I don't spend much time on there just because it lacks something; maybe personality. Maybe a place for links to hardware companies etc.

News aggregation
Hardware/software reviews
Opinion articles
General news updates

My 2 cents

I agree that some sites are too much - this is the main reason I want to get feedback . . .

The other aspect of this is that I am working on keeping the forum as it is now - an independent part of the site . . . so those that come only for the forum will not be bothered by all the other content . . .

Again, just working on some ideas - nothing is set in stone (not that it ever really is . . . )

A few tweaks to the site I have would be the color font pallet and the way it works. More smileys. :D
It seems that when a quote is done (not sure how to describe this) the body of the post scrolls up and you have to click with the mouse at the end of the sentence to type and continue to do so.

Just a few suggestons.

Ahh, I know exactly what you are talking about too. Not only in that occasion, it is also happening when you type quite a bit of info into your post. And it does this wierdness where you type, and when you stop typing, it scrolls up so you cant see what you typed.

That would be an immense fix if you can understand what we are getting at.

More Emicons would be neat but not a necessity. The Font Color Pallet operation in the way it works would be a big help. How about giving a member (maybe the donators, not sure) the ability to change background colors. Instead of black all of the time, maybe white nothing fancy. Increase the word or character size of the signitures. Maybe from 500 to 1000, just a thought.

Couple questions, recommendations:

1) Do you guys still need donations? If so, maybe having a special "badge" or something to signify that you are a supporting member under your name would be enough to make others want to donate as well. Maybe there could be different levels of donation too, like bronze, silver, and gold for preset amounts (amounts would be within reason, of course). I'm only saying this because I could see people donating $1 just to get the "supporting member" badge, when someone else may have donated say $20, or even $100. It just wouldn't be fair.

2) I think we really need to separate the Dell systems discussions from the full custom rig discussions. I think this will give Dell users a bit more confidence to post, and also help a Dell user find the info they need without having to sort through a whole bunch of stuff that doesn't pertain to them.

I'd also like to see forums for things like: Case Mods, Water Cooling, Overclocking, etc. I think this would add an attraction for a guest thinking about joining that has nothing do with a Dell system. They would see that we are up to speed with everything going on, and would feel comfortable joining in.

3) A feature I have seen on some forums that I like is a chat room. This would be nice for guys who want to meet up at certain times for discussions, or just shooting the breeze with other members without having to use the message board system. If we can't do a full chat room, then maybe at least a live shout box, which is used in the same manner just on a much smaller scale.

This is about it for now, but if I can think of anything else, I will certainly let you know. I do think that when we change the name of the forum to a more "custom pc" type of name, we will get a lot more new members.
