What about www.myrig.com ?

Or something along those lines as you can still have the 'myrig.com - the home of my630i.com'

and you could still have the forums my630i and alienware and if it got bigger then you can add others into the mix.

I think with the right branding logos etc any name can look great and professional I mean gamespot does LOL.

Just my thoughts :)

Steve

SteveP's suggestion "www.myrig.com" is not bad......it is all encompassing. Dell would probably have an issue calling it something like mydell.com. Maybe, you could combine the two.....like myD-rig.com or myDrig.com.

Also, I don't think you would want to include all Dell computers so it would be more of the higher-end and gaming PCs. Something like myHED.com (HED would stand for High End Dell). But yet, you still would like to include custom PCs as well. I got it........myHEDaC.com......it can stand for my High End Dell And Customs. I know my 630 has caused me some late nights and headaches. Ok...I'll stop now.

I agree with some changes but we have to remember that some of us bought the 630 not that long ago and with age will need help with the system.
After a year i did not really have major problems with mine , only a minor annoyance on boot when it says i have no keyboard (since new) and have to manually shut down and re-start sometimes twice even after replacing keyboard with a wireless.

beau511,

So this would beg the question "What makes a XPS630i?"

Is it the case, or the motherboard, if you change one or both is it still a XPS630i?

I think it's the case/ownership. All the innards - including the mobo - can and have been changed by one member or another, but I can't remember seeing a post about changing the case and keeping everything else because "It's just sooo goood!". In essence, once a 630 owner...

We have all had/are having problems, hopefully most if not all have been solved in some way by the friendly good natured people that frequent the site. I't been a long time getting here, and yes we've had our share of flamers/spammers/angry's, but I'd like to think that we have indeed taken over from what the old DCF (Dell Community Forum) used to be, may it rest in peace!

So some may change the mobo/gpu/psu, add water cooling or even get another system alltogether, most can say they have at least one thing in common, owning that brushed aluminium case.

Whatever site name is finally addopted or how the forum morfs to take onboard other subjects/systems, there will allways be a place for "My630i.com". At least in my heart.

I want to reiterate that support for the 630 is not going away and the central focus will not change for a very long time . . . I just want to keep the community alive, imagining a day when many of us are looking at a world with our 630's and some other rig/hardware . . .

Keep up the thoughts and suggestions . . . it is really getting discussions going among the mods and admins . . . even if some of it is basking in the kind words ;)

Could the new site be myrig.com and have my630i.com redirect to it with a 630i sub-directory?

I like myrig.com...David grab that domain, lol.

To be honest, I had just recently looked in to upgrading my 630i and came across this site during my research. I got so ticked off at myself and Dell that I actually opened a support ticket with Dell and filed a complaint with the BBB, really anticipating I would be told to go fly a kite. I last spoke with a Dell rep this evening and they said that while they could not replace my motherboard (which is what I requested), they would replace my system with a refurbished system that met or exceeded my requirements. So, now I am waiting to find out what refurb system they offer me.. but long story short, I wouldn't have been able to do that without this sites resources. Though I admit, the site is most likely in the twilight years of its original intent, it's still kickin. :)

Well i dont type or spell too good but i would like to add my 2 cents into this discussion also. while i do still own one of the first stock ( which i believe is why that i never had any of the problems with it running with out any of the main problems that a lot of others were having) 630i's and have oc to 3.00 by reading this forum. I came here like most after dell's forum went----- anyway i agree that the site has had its day for the 630 and does need the change but if you want it to grow I believe that it should not only include the topics that appeal to those of you that have a vast knowledge of computers but to the laymen as well, the sub topics for Games ,For sale/Wanted and such are also good but I think that you need to draw people in that need help with computers in general as the old Dell site was. There are a lot of people out here that enjoy reading all the post from from people like the ones here on this site,But dont care about doing a lot of the things with the upgrading ( or cant afford too as me :x ) but we still come here for help and inspiration. So I think that to grow with more members unless you want to be limited to mostly over clockers an upgrades that general computer help would be a big boost

dwebber -

You are absolutely correct! A General Computer Help section is missing - so I added it!

Thanks for the suggestion!
